Sanuja is a Master's candidate in Boreal Ecosystems and Agricultural Sciences at Grenfell Campus, Memorial University, focusing on the relationship between boreal ecosystems and agricultural practices. She holds a bachelor's degree in agriculture (soil science) and conducted undergraduate research on the effect of growing lemongrass and Gliricidia on soil properties in Sri Lanka.

Her participation in the BioSoil North project in Placentia concerns nutrient efficiency and budgeting. Her research interests include the carbon budget in land application and composting, sustainable organic-waste management, using boreal habitats to mitigate climate change, and improving soil health to support agriculture.
